This is posted by his daughter-in-law in England as he has no computer or internet access (says he's too old!). He phoned me to ask me to look at Vindicatrix website in England and they gave us yours too.

Great Stuff Fred, Alan and all the WOZVA lads.
Haven't you done well?!
See you all have a GREAT time of it at the meet-up tomorrow!

.............THE WIZARDS of WOZ..........

It's astonishing ... it's incredible!
but it's the Truth I'm pleased to say
Already 20 lads are paid up members
over there in sunny W A

Barely launched - now up and running
How their Manning List has grown
West OZ lads have rallied - signing up
More than passing interest they've shown

From Munster, Bridgetown & Kondinin
Vindi lads pop up around the clock
It won't surprise me if one turns up soon
from out Hyden way, near Wave Rock

From Perth out to the Wheat Belt -
to the Big Timber lands down south,
The call to lads to join "The WOZVA Club"
goes out ... email & word of mouth

It will be really interesting to see
Where else in this 'gynormous' State
Vindi lads have put down an anchor
And now wish to congregate
to "lamp swing", have a beer or two
surmount "big green 'uns" without fear
as they swan about down "Memory Lane"
And may they do it ... each & every year !

Would Cap'n Alan please stow this in
it's appropriate locker...as and when?!

To Cap'n Alan and all on the Manning List.

Shipmates, I'd like you to know of my extreme satisfaction at seeing this "Sandgropers Chapter" of TSVA come into being. Good on you mates for your endeavour. I congratulate you.
It is recognised these sites just don't materialise from an "abracadabra" statement & flourish...they're the result of much dedicated effort and a whole heap of time.
A HUGE pat on the back to you!
Your dedication & time is much appreciated.

I love the sand dune background up top for "The Sandgropers".
My back garden in Nth Fremantle looked like that way back in 1956. We (OZ shipmates & me) were making home brew ... and plenty of it. (44 gal drums) The poor old garden got a heap of neglect...and died of thirst!
But we didn't !!!

Thanks for the invite Cap'n. Pencil me in for the next Branch meet but ink me in for WOZVA membership. I'm comin' "home"! Looking forward to the soiree and meeting up again, you & George, our mate from Broomehill and all the new lads.
Best Wishes to one & all - wherever you may be.

Congratulations to the Sandgropers. I am sure you will find many more Vindi Boys tucked under the sand, so dig deep!!! It is great to see so many Vindi websites being developed bascially for the social, lamp swinging and caring for each other. I wish each and everyone of you the very best for success. Some Vindi Boys may not like my comments here and I want to use the term "umbilical cord", whatever that has happened in the past must be buried and we must remember our roots as an Association formed in UK. At this point in time, I am Vice President of the Merchant Navy Association, QLD and I am certainly a member of the UK Branch, some 13 members of our Branch are UK members with equal freedom of choice. Last year 18 of our members marched proudly with the Merchant Navy Association carrying our Vindi Banner on Anzac Day and the lads are ready to march again this year to put us Merchant Seamen on the map. Don't forget the Australian Government has not yet conceded to September 3rd as Merchant Navy Day. I send Blessings to all of you who have gone down to the sea in ships wherever you may be. To Alan, the Admiral a personal friend, I send you and Brenda greetings and success in your website.
